Joanna Roddy is a writer, audiobook narrator, and writing teacher living in Bend, Oregon.

She’s lived all over the U.S. and a couple places in Europe, but spent most of her life in the Seattle area. Having settled in the high desert of Central Oregon, she misses the sea and the forest, but not the rain and subsequent mold, which gave her several permanent autoimmune conditions. She lives with her boat-designer husband (the irony of living inland!), daughter Avonlea and son Corin as well as three cats (it’s a long story), Luna, Mario, and Smaug. Joanna loves cooking, British mystery programs, and reading and writing about murder and/or magic. Preferably both. She is also a proud bookseller at her local indie bookstore Roundabout Books.

She graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a degree in English literature and creative writing. She has written and acted since she was a child, and she spent over a decade teaching creative writing, literature, and journalism.

Voice Acting:

Joanna began voice acting in 2020 and has since narrated and produced dozens of titles. Many of her clients are USA Today Bestselling authors, and she has completes multiple series. She has been praised for her diverse characterizations and range of accents, and her clients appreciate her professionalism, promptness, and commitment to superior audio quality.

Writing:

Joanna writes fantasy and mystery novels. She co-founded the literary quarterly Kindred in 2015, and edited and contributed to the magazine until 2021. She was a long-time contributor to Project Middle-Grade Mayhem, a collective author’s blog on writing craft and all things Middle Grade. Joanna has written for regional lifestyle magazines about food, travel, and wine, and received a writing residency through Centrum at Fort Worden in Washington state.
